Meet... the Monster!

Elektro

History: Scientist Wilbur Poole created the ultimate computer. By accident, the computer developed a will of its own. Placing Poole in an hypnotic trance, the computer ordered him to build an enormous robot body, into which the computer transferred its mechanical mind. “Elektro” then attacked San Francisco to begin his conquest of mankind. Meanwhile, Poole (now free of the hypnotic trance) entered an access door on the giant robot's foot. He removed a single transistor from the inner mechanism, thus shutting down Elektro's power source.

Elektro was rebooted to wipe out his evil programming and Reed Richards replaced his faulty software. Elektro was then enrolled into Richards' “Monster Isle Parole Plan” ; he was reduced to human size by Richards' molecular compactor and put to work in the Baxter Building's mail room, he even pursued a romantic relationship with the Fantastic Four's robot receptionist Roberta.
Elektro later joined forces with Fin Fang Foom, Gorgilla, and Googam (his fellow parolees) to battle an enlarged Tim Boo Ba.

Height: 60 ft.
Demonstrated Powers: Elektro's powers originated from his electro-mechanical body. Elektro could project a personal force field to stop missles. His right hand could fire pure gamma rays which could reduce a mountain to dust. His left hand could project anti-gravity energy to levitate objects. Elektro also had the ability to de-materialize a portion of the city and return it to its normal state.

Comment: It is unknown if Elektro has any connection with Electro, a robot built by Professor Philo Zog, who had his own series in Timely Comics' Marvel Mystery Comics #'s 4 - 19 in the 1940's.

Comment: Elektro should not be confused with the obscure hero Electro-Man (whose statue was seen in Super Spider-man and Captain Britain Weekly #244).

Comment: Elektro should not be confused with the villain Electro introduced in The Amazing Spider-man # 9, nor with the Communist villain of the 1950's Captain America (introduced in Captain America # 78) also called Electro.

Comment: Elektro should not be confused with Elektro, the mechanical “motoman” of the 1939 World's Fair.

Comment: Was Wilbur Poole perhaps related to Albert Poole, who built the giant robot hulk in Strange Tales # 74?
