Googam
History: When Goom invaded Earth, he secretly brought along his infant son, Googam, whom he left hidden in a cave. Discovered by fourteen-year old Billy, Googam followed Billy home, where he terrorized Billy and his family. Challenged by Billy to a game of tag, Googam was tricked into stepping into a quicksand pit.
Googam somehow survived his apparent death and went on to battle the Fantastic Four. After his defeat, he was enrolled in Reed Richards' “Monster Isle Parole Plan” (due to his young age, which meant he was likely to be successfully rehabilitated); Googam was reduced to human size by Richards' molecular compactor, and his abilities were neutralized through a series of post-hypnotic cognitive barriers. As part of his rehabilitation, Googam was employed as a parking-lot attendent at the Baxter Building's garage. Googam was later tricked into bringing the alien tyrant Tim Boo Ba to Earth and enlarging him. Googam was forced to join an alliance with Fin Fang Foom, Elektro, and Gorgilla (his fellow parolees) to end the menace of Tim Boo Ba.
Height: 8 ft.
Demonstrated Powers: Like Goom, Googam had telekinesis which allowed him to levitate objects and create force fields. Although not as powerful as Goom, it is assumed Googam's powers would increase as he reached maturity (the fact that he sank in quicksand suggests Googam's telekinesis was not powerful enough for him to levitate himself). Unlike Goom, Googam demonstrated the ability to shrink living beings; whether this was a unique ability or inherited is unknown.
Comment: Speculation - The Handbook to the Marvel Universe gave the name “Xanth” to the Planet X introduced in Fantastic Four # 7 (see Kurrgo). Xanth may have been populated by multiple alien races. Although there is no conclusive proof that this was the same “Planet X” of the FF story, it is a fact that after that Planet X was destroyed by an asteroid, the giant monster invasions of Earth dropped off.
