Meet... the Monster!

The Impossible Man

History: Coming to Earth on a vacation from his native planet, the Impossible Man crossed paths with The Fantastic Four. After a short battle, the alien realized that humans did not share his powers of molecular transformation and that he was the most powerful person on Earth. After the Impossible Man went on a spree of destructive mischief (which he considered “fun”), Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic got the idea of having everyone ignore the imp. After a few days of being ignored, the Impossible Man left Earth out of sheer boredom.

Years later, the Impossible Man once again made contact with the Fantastic Four (returning in Fantastic Four #'s 175 and 176). The Impossible Man made several other appearances over the years, and had a tendency to “pop up” when least expected.

Height: Variable
Demonstrated Powers: In order to survive in the hostile environment of their native planet (where they faced such natural enemies as the Urrpo-Fish), the Poppupians evolved with the power to alter the molecular structure of their bodies.

Unlike The Skrulls (who could only shift their shapes), the Impossible Man could adapt his body instantaneously to whatever form he needed, and could also simulate mechanical, electrical, and chemical processes as well (i.e. transforming himself into a bomb, spaceship, etc.)

Comment: In DC Comics Superman (vol. 2) # 50, it was revealed that the Fifth-Dimensional imp Mr. Mxyzptlk travelled to another reality where he was an “Impossible Man”-like character, and he battled a “Fantastic Four”-like superteam in a story sequence that was reminiscent of Fantastic Four # 11.

This charactor and Mr. Mxyzptlk have been similar to each other since day one.
Originally the friendly imp in Marvel came and went one time.
He seemed to be the one shot charactor you would never see again.
Years later he was reintroduced to help the Fantastic Four as well as The Avengers.
I remember when he was reintroduced to help fight a bad guy trapped in a coffin in limbo.
A nice friendly sort of child like charactor.
