Can A Comment Save the World?!?

Dear Editor,
The Droom story had an interesting plot twist. I was very impressed with his final destination and his final fate as a founder of a new race of beings on a very familiar planet.

Take care,
Bob T.

Yeah, and I like how the world was saved by the power of solar energy fueled rockets. And also how ironic that the monster was created by a chemist who was experimenting with increasing the growth of food. Plenty of socially-conscious criticism (or fear-mongering, depending on your point of view) in this tale, eh Bob?

NOTE: Bob and I are referring to the cover story, “I Saw Droom the Living Lizard” by Don Heck reprinted in Fantasy Masterpieces 8.

I can't help noticing Droom's resemblance to Wani the Sea Monster (from the MARVEL SPOTLIGHT one-shot that introduced the Japanese-American superhero known as “the Dragon Lord”).

Fantastic Four/Iron Man: Big in Japan seems to replace Godzilla's 1954 attack with one by Droom, due to them no longer owning the King of All Monsters, yet still wantign to reference the 1954 event. (most vamous giant-mosnter attack of all time.)
That predates his first appearance by 6 years… well., so.

DROOM, THE LIVING LIZARD is a very cool story. The plot twist at the end reminds me of an episode of the old Twilight Zone TV show. I really like the cover artwork. It's just like the movie posters from the 1950's, with a giant prehistoric beast on the rampage. THE RETURN OF THE GENIE is definitely as good as the cover story, with another classic plot twist at the end. I just can't get enough of these old pre-superhero Marvel comic books!

............. Tom L. Becker :: 09 July 2006

Dear Mr. Becker,
Is the Twilight Zone episode the one with Richard Baseheart?
” My name is Cook. Adam cook. “
